CLEVELAND, WI —

The American Association of Community Colleges has recognized Lakeshore Technical College math instructor Kelly Konrath among its 2024 Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty. Konrath is the college’s sixth faculty member to be recognized since the program began in 2018 and the only Wisconsin instructor recognized this year.

Konrath joined Lakeshore’s math faculty in 2015. She holds a master’s degree in mathematics education from DePaul University. She has served on several college committees including those focusing on access and competency-based education. Konrath will be recognized in a ceremony taking place April 9 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Named in honor of former AACC President and CEO Dale P. Parnell, the award was established to recognize individuals from around the country making a difference in and outside the college classroom.

Lakeshore President Dr. Paul Carlsen referred to Konrath’s willingness to go above and beyond the classroom as admirable.

“Kelly has the unique ability to guide current and future students to become engaged in mathematical concepts. She voluntarily holds family math game nights at a local library, where she also leads an after-school math club for K-2nd grade children. Kelly is truly a forward-thinker,” said Carlsen.

“The fact that faculty from our modestly sized college have been recognized six out of seven years speaks volumes about the exceptional quality of our instructors,” added Carlsen.

Previously recognized faculty at Lakeshore include Julie Konik, psychology instructor; Sarah Bornemann, information technology web and software developer instructor; Jeremy Pagel, sociology instructor; Paul Benfield, information technology network specialist instructor; and David Saunders, welding program coordinator/instructor.
