LTC to Offer Additional Locations for Medical Terminology Class

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

12/16/2013

CLEVELAND, WI –

To help meet the demand for future health care workforce needs, Lakeshore Technical College will be adding seven additional locations for their Medical Terminology class.  This class provides the foundation for numerous medical related careers and after taking the course, students will be able to explore different degree options in the medical field.  Both high school and adult learners are welcome to participate and credits earned apply to LTC health programs, as well as transfer to numerous 4-year colleges & universities.

“Most students pursuing a degree in the medical field will need to take this class in order to complete their degree,” says Jim Lemerond, LTC Dean of Health and Human Services.   “We want to be as flexible as possible and give the students more options to take this class so they can get a good start on completing their degree.”

LTC currently holds the classes at the Cleveland campus and will be adding class locations at LTC Manitowoc and LTC Sheboygan as well as at the LTC Educations Centers at Cedar Grove-Belgium High School, Plymouth High School, Kiel High School, Mishicot High School and Two Rivers High School.

“We added more locations to make the class more accessible to individuals who may not be able to attend class at the Cleveland campus,” says Lemerond. “Students will get the same face to face interaction without having to travel very far.”

The class is an introductory course and will focus on the component parts of medical terms, including prefixes, suffixes, and word roots. Students will also explore the Greek and Latin origins of medical terms and commonly used abbreviations. The class provides an excellent foundation for anyone interested in the medical field, including health occupations that do not require patient care duties such as health care information technology or records administration.

Classes will be offered on Monday evenings from 5:30-8:30pm beginning January 20.   For more information or to register, visit www.gotoltc.edu/GetStarted or call 1.888.468.6582, ext 1366.
