LTC offering small business seminars this fall

CLEVELAND, WI

Lakeshore Technical College is offering small business seminars to the general public this fall at the Cleveland campus. Participants will gain valuable information to better manage their businesses.

“QuickBooks Intro – Is QuickBooks Right for My Business?” will be held Sept. 16 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The class number is 65181, and the fee is $39.

Participants will learn the basics of bookkeeping for small businesses, including how QuickBooks can help them set up customers, vendors and employees; enter invoices and bills; receive payments; pay bills and write checks; record bank deposits, transfers and reconciliations; and create journal entries, income statements and balance sheets. Mike Bruflat, CPA, will be the presenter. Bruflat is the manager of Schenck Business Solutions and is a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor.

“Immigration Law Compliance for Employers” will be held Oct. 7 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The class number is 65915, and the fee is $39.

The seminar will cover documentation faced by employers in the hiring process, including Form I-9 and the E-Verify Employment Verification system. The Social Security mismatch requirements and possible penalties for failing to comply with the immigration law documentation requirements also will be covered. Crystal H. Fieber, attorney for O’Neil, Cannon, Hollman, DeJong S.C., will be the presenter.

“Grant Writing—How to Get Started” will be held Oct. 16 from 8 a.m. to noon. The class number is 65322, and the fee is $39.

Participants will learn the basics of finding appropriate grant opportunities, developing quality proposals and winning successful grants. The seminar also will cover grant vocabulary. LTC Grant Writers Linda Rose and Rebecca Polar will be the presenters.

“Excel 2007 Level 1” will be held Oct. 30 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The class number is 65319, and the fee is $39.

Participants will learn how to enter numbers and simple formulas and functions into an Excel worksheet. Different operators, the use of parentheses in equations and the difference between absolute and relative references also will be covered. LTC Instructor Karen O’Leary will be the presenter. 

“Excel 2007 Level 2” will be held Nov. 6 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The class number is 65320, and the fee is $39.

Participants will learn to format numbers, align cell contents and change the look of an Excel worksheet using design features and templates. O’Leary will be the presenter. 

 “Excel 2007 Level 3” will be held Nov. 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The class number is 65321, and the fee is $49.

Functions and nested functions, data sorting and filtering, and chart and graph creation will be covered. O’Leary will be the presenter. 

“Dreamweaver CS3” is a three-day seminar that will be held Dec. 3, 10, and 17 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The class number is 65075, and the fee is $115.

Participants will learn how to create a Web site using Dreamweaver software and to understand and directly modify HTML Web code. LTC Information Technology Instructor Russ Everson will be the presenter.
