FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
02/18/08

CLEVELAND, WI
Lakeshore Technical College is announcing three upcoming vacancies on the LTC District Board of Trustees. Board member applications will be accepted until 4 p.m. on March 5.

According to state statutes, applicants must be present at the LTC Board Appointment public hearing, during which they will be interviewed. The public hearing will take place March 27 at 5:30 p.m. in the Lakeshore Conference Room of the Lakeshore Building at LTC’s Cleveland campus.

The LTC district board is comprised of two employers, two employees, three additional (at-large) members, a school district administrator and an elected official. Terms expire for three board posts each year. The three upcoming openings are for an elected official member and two additional members. The terms will run from July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2011.

The elected official member must hold a non-partisan elected public office other than party committee chair such as school board, common council, county board, village board, town board, town clerk, sheriff, city council, state legislature, etc. The additional member is defined as someone who is a resident of the LTC district.

To be eligible for consideration, each candidate must reside within the LTC district, which includes Manitowoc County less the portion of the School District of Chilton, the Brillion Public School District and the School District of Denmark; Sheboygan County less the portion of the School District of New Holstein, plus the Kiel Area School District in Calumet County; and the Cedar Grove-Belgium Area School District and the School District of Random Lake in Ozaukee County.

Equal consideration is given to the general population distribution within the LTC district as well as the distribution of women and minorities. To ensure board composition diversity as required by Wisconsin Technical College System policy, two of this year’s appointments must be female and two must be from the northern portion of LTC’s district in Calumet or Manitowoc counties.

Each applicant must submit a notarized affidavit/application, resume and at least two letters of recommendation by 4 p.m. on March 5 to Foua Hang, Board Appointment Liaison, Lakeshore Technical College, 1290 North Ave., Cleveland, Wis. 53015. To receive an application, contact Foua Hang at 920-693-1631 or foua.hang@gotoltc.edu.

Applications will be reviewed to verify candidates’ eligibility and then distributed to the LTC Board Appointment Committee for review. The committee is made up of county board chairs from Calumet, Manitowoc, Ozaukee and Sheboygan counties.
