For its 2007–08 budget, Lakeshore Technical College has been awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.

This is the 10th year in a row LTC has received the award. The award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and is presented to government units whose budgets adhere to program standards, according to the GFOA.

Certificates of Recognition for Budget Preparation were presented to LTC’s Financial Services Department and Research and Planning Department for being instrumental in achieving the award.

The award represents a significant achievement because it reflects LTC’s commitment to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To receive the award, LTC met nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation in four categories, including policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association that serves 16,800 government finance professionals throughout North America. The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
