LTC to offer seminars for confined-space workers

CLEVELAND, WI –
Lakeshore Technical College will offer a pair of seminars in September for workers in confined space environments.
Each class provides eight continuing education hours approved by the Department of Commerce for those holding credentials as: AST(Aboveground Storage Tank) Installer, UST (Underground Storage Tank) Installer, UST/AST Remover/Cleaner, Site Assessor, and Storage Tank Inspector
“Confined Space: Entrant–Attendant–Supervisor” prepares participant to assume the role of attendant, entrant, or supervisor for a permit-required confined space (PRCS) entry according to CFR 1910.146. It involves active, hands-on application of engineering controls such as air monitoring, ventilation, and lockout/tagout; classification of different types of confined spaces; identification of hazards associated with entry into permit-required confined spaces; use of the required permit; learning applicable regulations; roles and responsibilities of the supervisor, attendant, and entrant; scenarios applying principles to simulated confined space entries; selection of appropriate personal protective equipment; and rescue accountabilities.
The course will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 22. Cost is $215; refer to class No. 63576.
“Confined Space: Rescue Techniques” prepares the participant for the rescue of entrants from confined spaces. Must have completed Confined Space: Entrant–Attendant–Supervisor.
In this class you will: apply incident command system; identify hazards associated with rescue into permit-required confined spaces; assess and package patients; and select appropriate fall equipment, respiratory protection, and patient hauling system.
The course will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 23. Cost is $225; refer to class No. 63583.
