LTC offering confined space seminars in May

CLEVELAND, WI – 

Lakeshore Technical College is offering confined space training seminars at the Cleveland campus in May.

The Confined Space: Entrant–Attendant–Supervisor seminar will be held May 24 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The class number is 20018, and the fee is $215.

The class will prepare the participant to assume the role of attendant, entrant or supervisor for a permit required confined space entry according to CFR 1910.146. Class topics include: overview of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's Confined Space Standard; identification of hazards associated with entry into permit required confined spaces; roles and responsibilities of the supervisor, attendant, and entrant; selection of appropriate personal protective equipment; application of hazard controls, such as air monitoring, ventilation, and lockout/tagout; identification of types of confined spaces; completion of an entry permit; scenarios applying principles to simulated confined space entries; and non-entry rescue.

The Confined Space: Rescue Techniques seminar will be held May 25 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The class number is 20020, and the fee is $225. Participants must have already completed the Confined Space: Entrant–Attendant–Supervisor seminar as a prerequisite.

The rescue techniques class will prepare the participant for the rescue of entrants from confined spaces without atmospheric hazards. The class will cover: application of incident command system; identifying hazards associated with rescue into permit required confined spaces; patient assessment and packaging; selection of appropriate fall protection equipment and respiratory protection; design and selection of patient hauling systems; and basic ropes and knots for rescue.

Each confined space class provides eight continuing education hours approved by the Department of Commerce for those holding credentials as aboveground storage tank installers, underground storage tank installers, UST/AST remover cleaners, site assessors or storage tank inspectors.
