All-grain brewing allows you the most flexibility in designing and producing an individual beer. Often misrepresented as a very difficult process, moving from extract brewing to all-grain brewing is actually quite easy. All you need are a few additional pieces of equipment and some new knowledge!
The Beer Science Advanced seminar provides the existing extract homebrewer with hands-on experience in all-grain brewing techniques. The seminar will discuss and demonstrate:
- Malted grain types
- Grain milling
- Water chemistry
- The mashing process
- Single temperature infusion mashing
- Determining appropriate water volumes
- Calculating strike water temperature
- Mashing out
- Vorlauf/recirculating
- Batch sparging practices
This is a hands-on seminar where each participant will work with the appropriate all-grain equipment, including grain mills and mash lauter tuns with false bottoms.
This seminar assumes prior experience in homebrewing using extract beer kits.
