Chair Massage Therapy   Walk 100 Miles in 100 Days

Do something for yourself, or give the gift of massage for a co-worker or a student. Get a 10 minute neck, shoulder and back massage.

Please contact the college nurse to schedule an appointment. I have many open times available.

Date: Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 9:00 am to 3:15 pm

Place: Prototyping Room (L244)

Cost: $10.00 for Students and Staff Collected when appointment made.

Therapist: Cheryl Gehrke(Certified Massage Therapist) Currently a therapist at the YMCA in Manitowoc.

Please stop in room L-178 to make your appointment and pay before time slots are all scheduled.

THIS SUMMER JOIN US IN WALKING 100 MILES IN 100 DAYS OR BE PHYSICALLY ACTIVE AND EARN 100 WELLNESS MILES.

Here is how it works:

  • All employees and students are eligible to participate.
  • Miles do not need to be completed on this campus, may be in your own  neighborhood.
  • Registration fee of $3.00, required by Monday, May 7, 2012. Money will be used for prizes.
  • Starts Tuesday, May 8, 2012 and ends Wednesday, August 15, 2012.
  • Includes a list of physical activities, which equal wellness miles.
  • All participants who successfully complete the challenge will be eligible for prizes.
Register by calling Extension 1111 or stop in the College Health Nurses Office, L-178. Log sheets, walking maps and physical activities that equal wellness miles will be given out after the registration fee has been paid.

Zumba Class   Weight Watchers

Thursdays from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Option 1: March 15, 22,(No class 29), April 5, 12 19 and 26—6 weeks for $30

Option 2: May 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31—5 weeks for $25

Option 3: All 11 weeks for $50 plus a free class at Prana Groove Studio in included in the 11 week option

Kids would be $10 for each session and $15 for all 11 weeks (must have a parent that is registered)

Meetings date and time will be determined. $39.95 per month with Monthly pass (Check or Credit card payment available). Please let me know if you are interested in joining this series.

Biggest Loser at LTC   Wellness Center

Join LTC staff & students for this fun, team wellness challenge.

Each team will consist of 10 members, $5 registration per person. All weigh-ins will take place in the College Nurses office on the digital scale or as a team in the FTA Building by appointment only.

Weigh-In's:
Week 1(February 20-24),
Week 5(March 19-23),
Week 10(April 23-27)

Team Captains will be responsible to set up weigh in date & time for their team, during the nurse's hours.

All team members must participate in weigh-ins to be eligible for prizes. If you are unable to make the weigh-in with your team you will need to contact the school nurse to make arrangements.

Cash prizes will be awarded at the end of the challenge to the teams that lose the greatest percentage of weight. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams with the greatest percentage of weight loss. Prizes will depend on amount of teams competing.

The Wellness Center is an unsupervised exercise center that is open to current students, current staff and family members of staff, LTC retirees, and Village of Cleveland residents, free of charge. The Wellness Center Policy includes guidelines, dress code, and a release of all claims form. Participants need to review and sign forms in the school nurses office and complete an orientation session before use.

Hours of use: Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m. - 10 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., & Saturday 7:30 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Equipment available: Tread Mills, Elliptical Trainers, Exercise Bikes, Climb Max Stair Stepper, Abdominal Crunch Machine, Low Row Machine, Leg Press, Pec/Rear Delt, High Row/Lat Pull-down, Leg Extension/Leg Curl, Shoulder Press, Rotary Torso, Seated Arm Curl, Seated Bench Press, Inner/Outer Thigh, High/Low Pulley, Fitness Tree and Hyper-extension Unit, Free Weights – 1#-50# with bench, Jump Ropes, Yoga Balls, and Floor Mats.

Drinking Water, TV/ VCR & Stereo, Locker Room with showers available.

College Health Services  

The college nurse is available for emergency and first-aid care or treatment of minor illness until you can get home or to a physician, blood pressure checks, physical fitness and exercise, TB skin testing, and body fat analysis. A sick room is available if you are not feeling well. We are able to provide Acetaminophen, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Antacid, Imodium AD, Benadryl, Decongestant, Bacitracin, cough drops, & Hydrocortisone cream. Services are FREE.
